park bench

Oh dear God, it’s me, I’ve got some questions

Dear God, as I sit here all alone

Dear God, it’s just you and me this evening

With specks of life still gleaming, Dear God

Oh dear God, how ‘bout this weather?

Oh dear God, tomorrow should be cold

Dear God, I’m not sure what I’m saying

But I’ll take a shot at praying, dear God

Oh dear God, what the hell are you doing?

Dear God, what on earth did I do wrong?

Dear God, I’m trying hard to follow

But this pill is hard to swallow, dear God

Oh dear God, before I go much further

Dear God, I’ve got an existential “why”?

Dear God, why’s this world all damned and broken

After good words you had spoken? Dear God

Oh dear God, do you see the desperate suburbs?

Dear God, do you see the urban pain?

Dear God, do you see this place in chaos?

Do you love us or hate us? Dear God?

Oh dear God, now the wind is blowing

Dear God, this park bench is getting cold

Dear God, do you not like what I’m saying?

Is this not really praying? Dear God

Oh dear God, Why all of this suffering?

Dear God, is there no other way?

Dear God, if You’re the author of history

Then your plan’s a bitter mystery! Dear God

Oh dear God, is there really a heaven?

Dear God, or do we all trip at the finish line?

Dear God, is hope a crutch for dreamers

Who call themselves believers? Dear God

Oh dear God, you meet my cries with silence

Dear God, are you even there?

Dear God, am I screaming out at nothing?

Or is this all for something? dear God

Oh dear God, your story is a question mark

Dear God, but let’s get back to me!

Dear God, this vapor it is steaming,

Just trying to find the meaning, dear God

Oh dear God, what do you see inside of me?

Dear God, are you still knocking at the door?

Dear God, is there anything worth saving?

And is this what you call praying? Dear God…
