Broken Beauties

Papa was a rich man with a suitcase full of love

And He had a daughter and a son

But they left the shade to chase riches and fame

Now their Papa just wants them to come home

The daughter headed north to the promised land

And married a man on the go

Well he slept around, now her step-sons in danger

Of changing this already slippery slope

The sons on the run from his future

Sounds like his songs struck a nerve

Now he’s hiding in caves and he wonders who saves

Is it rooftops full of passion and curves?

Oh daughter, why you jealous? And son, why do you fall?

These broken beauties are loved, these broken beauties are loved

They’re sinking like stones, but they still need microphones to say

These broken beauties are loved

The son thinks he’s got it all together

Religion is saving his soul

But then he’s told he must be born again

Not it looks like his heart’s had a hole

The daughter gave her body to the man with the shame

Until the law threw her down

But here comes her hero with a stick against stones

Digging, “You all need a doctor in this town”

He said “You’re still a daughter, and I’m Papa’s loving son”

These broken beauties are loved, these broken beauties are loved

With hearts on their sleeves, they just want to believe

That they’re broken beauties and loved

These broken beauties are loved, these broken beauties are loved

The lines in the sand, and which side do you stand?

Singing, these broken beauties are loved

Loved, Loved, these broken beauties are loved
