father and son
I was just a simple boy,
didn’t know much of anything
‘Til my father sat me down,
and explained to me everything
He said son, my father was flawed, he obeyed such a selfish deed
But he turned to the grace of God, and his ransomed soul was freed
I was just a simple teen,
growing up just the best I could
‘Til my father sat me down,
showed me love ’til I understood
He said son, I’m not a perfect man, I don’t know much of anything
But I’m trying the best I can, I work hard so that you can sing
Now I’m just a simple man,
I don’t know much of anything
But someday I’ll sit my son down,
and explain to him everything
I’ll say son, my father was strong, he loved me more than anything
Now I see how to love like him, and someday you will love like me
